From the foundation to the finishes, MG Custom Homes exceeds code requirements and delivers better than standard building practices. It is our goal to provide you the finest quality construction at standard custom home prices.

In order to ensure basements do not leak, MG Custom Homes uses only washed stone fill around the footers and drain tile to ensure that water is able to flow away from the house. All foundations are waterproofed versus damp-proofed, even when not required by code. Silt protection is used to control run-off, and lots are graded to shed water away from the house.

In order to reduce or eliminate floor squeaks, MG Custom Homes uses only 3/4" tongue and groove sub floors that are glued and nailed down. In addition, MG Custom Homes takes the extra step to screw down all sub floors, as screws hold better than nails and dramatically reduces or totally eliminates floor squeaks.

MG Custom Homes are sheeted with hardboard wood for all exterior walls - not insulboard. Insulboard and blackboard allow 2x4 studs to twist and turn as they dry out and add no rigidity to the wall system. A full hardboard wrap keeps the studs straight and true, making the walls much more rigid, which dramatically reduces drywall pops. All walls are then wrapped with TYVEK® house wrap to keep moisture from entering the wall cavity. Windows and doors are thend sealed with TYVEK FLEX WRAP® to assure a watertight seal. An air filtration package is included with every house prior to insulation.

Although concrete cracks are natural, MG Custom Homes does everything possible to eliminate or reduce cracks. All floors and garages are filled with compacted granular fill, never dirt that has the potential of settling later. All floors and driveways are poured with Class C concrete with FIBERMESH®, providing double the concrete strength required by code and specified on building plans.

Personal involvement is critical to MG Custom Homes. Either Mike or his superintendent are at each job on a consistent basis to answer questions, solve problems, and assure that the client's needs are being met.
